Donate Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle that allows you to make a charitable contribution to your DAF, receive an immediate tax benefit and then recommend grants to your favorite nonprofit organizations over time.

How does it work?

  1. Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.
  2. Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax free).
  3. Recommend grants to the charities you support, with the option of being recognized or remaining anonymous.

SKIP works with DAF Direct to facilitate donations from Donor Advised Funds. If you have a DAF that is housed with an organization that participates in DAF Direct, giving from your own DAF to SKIP is very easy.

If your Donor Advised Fund does not participate with DAF Direct, please give us a call at (212) 268-5999 or email us at We will be happy to walk you through the process of donating from you Donor Advised Fund.

We recommend speaking with your legal and financial advisors about your planned gifts and their federal and state tax implications. Note as well that such gifts have organizational guidelines, outlined in a Gift Acceptance Policy, which must be met.
