Thanks for their hard work collecting donations, 20 families in our community will have a brighter, fuller Thanksgiving for this year’s Buffalo Turkey Trot.

This Thanksgiving marks the 38th Annual Turkey Trot. It was started when Margaret Mikol, SKIP’s co-founder and Executive Director, discovered that some of our families did not have the resources to celebrate Thanksgiving. And that remains true today. Nearly 80% of the families SKIP serves live at or below the poverty line and are simply unable to purchase a turkey.

SKIP is short for Sick Kids (Need) Involved People but it’s long on the kind of help that keeps thousands of New York’s most medically fragile and developmentally disabled kids growing up at home with their families. Nearly 80% live at or below the poverty line, and without our help many won’t have Thanksgiving this year. So we’re bringing the bird and all the fixin’s to the neediest among them, giving thanks, giving what they would not otherwise have. That’s a table worth sitting at. Won’t you join us?
